About the Steiner Family
The Steiner family described here originated in Erlenbach bei Kandel, Germany. Jacob Georg Steiner and Margaret Ann Scwein arrived in Oregon from Germany in 1882. While one member of the family has traveled back to Germany to gain information, which is described in this text, the focus of this material is on Jacob and Margaret and their ten children. Their second son, Wilhelm “William” Steiner left home around 1900 and was never heard from again and we have not been able to locate any information about him. Their youngest child, Otto, was killed in a hunting accident at the age of 17. However, the remaining 8 children remained primely in the Oregon and are the focus of this discussion.
The original 690-page Steiner genealogy book was divided in eight chapters, each based on one the eight adult children and included generational material up to the present time. This layout was not consistent with the other books we have produced. So, in 2023, we started an update of the material by producing a chapter for each generation. This allowed us to add information about the first generation of the eight families that married with the eight Steiner children. The family history will be provided in a series of books, each containing one or more generations. The first book includes the individuals in the first two generations.
The book of the 1st and 2nd Generations is 230 pages. The first generation includes includes the eight families that married into the second generation of Steiners.
Book 2 contains the 3rd Generation. It is 384 pages.
