About
The common method of displaying genealogy information is to use a database, or family tree. Early on in my search I found that this did not provide an adequate picture of the family. There is far more to a family than dates and places. Thus, I made the decision to write the “story” of the family as I did the research. I found that by writing the story, I was often able to identify errors that get repeated over and over in on-line trees such as Ancestry.com.
What you will find for each of the families is a text that describes the information we were able to find as well as occasional discussion about research that did not yield any results. For example, it is not uncommon to find many people missing from the 1860 and 1870 census records (the Civil War was from 1861 until 1865). By documenting the depth of the hunt for information it may help others to not follow the same rabbit trail dead ends.
